AJGA Performance Based Entry
The short version of stars, exemptions, and why a home-state win might not move an AJGA application.
What a star is
A Performance Star is an AJGA entry credit from a finish, not a ranking point. The AJGA uses the total, plus exempt status, to decide who gets into Open and Junior All-Star fields when more players apply than the course can hold.
Fully exempt status sits above stars. The AJGA says a top finish at a premier national junior event can create that status. Stars then order the rest of the applications. Ties are broken by the procedure published for that series.

Count an event only if it is on the current AJGA PBE schedule or it is an AJGA event whose star table is on the earnings page. State and PGA section tours earn stars event by event, after the AJGA looks at participation, field strength, and results. A common reason for a decline is that the previous field missed the minimum size.
The star table is different for a qualifier, a Preview, a Junior All-Star, and a recognized outside event. Use the earnings page for the number. Do not reuse one event's table for another.
